Climb up Tegg's Nose

Macclesfield, Cheshire

Climb to the summit of Tegg’s Nose, admire the views, cycle the routes and even try your hand at rock climbing.

Start your day with a leisurely walk along Tegg’s Nose Country Park Trail. This short walk begins at the visitors centre, heading uphill towards the old quarry, where there are fantastic views overlooking Macclesfield Forest. Carry on along the path to Tegg’s Nose summit at a height of 380m, where there are more stunning views across the forest and Bottoms Reservoir.

Prefer two wheels? Take a cycle ride along the Tegg’s Nose to Parkgate track. The 12-mile route starts from Tegg’s Nose and runs through nearby Bottom of the Oven.

Stop off at the Cat and Fiddle Inn for a bite to eat before returning to the Country Park. Here you can try your hand at rock climbing and attempt the challenging faces of the old quarry, great for thrill-seekers. You can unwind at the reservoir for a couple of hours of late-afternoon fishing.
